ALL TOGETHER FOR SPAZIO VITA PROJECT
Spazio Vita is an important project involving the Spinal Unit of Niguarda Hospital and the non-profit organizations working inside the spinal unit, AUS and ASBIN.
Spazio Vita Project involves the construction of a new facility, a polyfunctional center, connected to the Spinal Unit (SU) at Niguarda Ca' Granda Hospital, in Milan: 500 square meters which will host all the social and supplementary activities of rehabilitation for patients of the SU, people with spinal cord injury (mainly because of motor accidents, industrial injuries, sport accidents) and kids with spina bifida:
• Art workshops and musictherapy
• Pet therapy
• Information desks of the non-profit organizations
• Play area and study room for kids
• Rooms for conference and meetings
• Office for functional evaluation of sport-therapy activities.
All these activities require an adequate and equipped space, so that the facility can be open to people living nearby. This project can give the chance to many disabled people to attend courses and social gatherings, even after their discharge from the SU, otherwise precluded for current lack of space.
ASBIN
From 1989 ASBIN Associatio, a non-profit organization, takes care of kids with spina bifida attended at the Spina Bifida Center (SBC) at the Niguarda SU. The aim of the Association is supporting the activities of the SBC, which provides a qualified medical and rehabilitative assistance and ensures a psychological support both to the kids with SB as to their families. ASBIN promotes scientific, clinical and welfare activities and raises funds for the Center’s specific needs.
